Pittsburgh deserves worker-centered journalism

Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh journalists and community supporters formed the Pittsburgh Alliance for People-Empowered Reporting after the Post-Gazette announced it would be closing May 3rd. We looked into worker-owned and non-profit models as well as the potential for a truly independent Post-Gazette. Our research led us to decide pursuing a worker- and community-owned daily news outlet in line with our mission: To serve as a source of communication and connection that reflects the needs of working-class people in the region.
